On a warm day in July, I took the bus to Lands End and walked up the coastal trail. I enjoyed the ocean views, rocky beaches, and windswept waters of the coast. It was such a wild natural area that for a while I forgot I was still in the city.

I also saw two man-made points of interest:

• A giant camera that housed a working camera obscura.
• The ruins of Sutro Baths, an indoor swimming pool complex that burned down in the 60s.

All in all, it was a wonderful place to spend a Sunday afternoon.
